Secrets to More Shareable Content

C2S
secrets to more shareable content

If you read blogs online, you’ve probably come across a few posts that have hundreds, or even thousands, of comments.

And you can’t help but think, “Wow, wouldn’t that be great if that happened to one of my posts?”

What’s the secret to creating a post that goes viral?

While you can’t control whether or not any of your posts go viral, you can take some steps to encourage the sharing of your content:

  1. Create Outstanding Content.  Crap doesn’t get shared online; only relevant and interesting content does.  Strive to create outstanding content that serves the needs of your audience, whether that be for education, information, or humor.
  2. Publish More Frequently.  In order for something to go viral, it has to first be published!  No one can share content that they can’t access so get it out of your head and out there where people can see it.  Since you can’t predict beforehand which content will be shared most frequently, publishing often gives you a better chance that SOMETHING might strike the right cord.
  3. Promote, Promote, Promote.  It might seem counter-intuitive, but YOU, as the content creator, have to take responsibility for driving eyeballs to your work.  No matter how amazing your content, no one can share it if no one ever sees it.  So, make sure you are doing everything that you can to drive traffic to your content.

It’s easy to get caught up in thinking that there is a short-cut, that if you just figure out what that is, this will be easier.  Or that you just have to put in X amount of work, then you can coast to the finish line.

But life doesn’t work that way.

To grow a business, or an audience for your blog, you have to invest time, effort and money.  If you aren’t willing to make the investment, you won’t be successful.  It’s that simple.

You’ve heard stories about folks in the entertainment industry who got discovered “overnight” after working hard for twenty years?

That “luck” happened because they put themselves out there regularly, every day, doing what they could to further themselves in their industry.

And that is exactly what it takes to create content that goes viral.  Write great content, publish often, and promote what you write.  Eventually, you might just be rewarded with thousands of comments on your post as a result of viral traffic.

Beginners Guide to Keyword Research

C2S

Getting search engine traffic to your website involves more than simply putting up a pretty website. Search engines are in the business of linking people who want something to websites that provide what they are looking for. The tool that search engines use to figure out what people are looking for is the search box.  Users enter terms in the search box and the search engine matches those terms with content of webpages and delivers the results based on a best match. Each search engine uses a slightly different process of determining what constitutes a best match, but all use … Continue reading →

The CAN-SPAM Act and You

The CAN-SPAM Act covers all commercial messages sent via email, to customers and businesses alike. Each separate email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act is subject to penalties of up to $16,000, so non-compliance can be costly. But following the law isn’t complicated. Here’s a rundown of CAN-SPAM’s main requirements:
  1. Don’t use false or misleading header information.
  2. Don’t use deceptive subject lines.
  3. Identify the message as an ad.
  4. Tell recipients where you’re located.
  5. Tell recipients how to opt out of receiving future email from you.
  6. Honor opt-out requests promptly.
  7. Monitor what others are doing on your behalf.

Quick Marketing Tip

Use Both Sides of Your Business Card
You put your contact information on the front of your business card, but what about the real estate on the back? Use it to invite someone to take a quiz, download a free report, or schedule a free session. When you hand out your cards, hand them out with the back side up — they are more likely to remember your free offer than to remember your name.
